Questions on Jewish and Conservative Christian Moral Theology

Many people believe that they and others derive moral believes from religious scriptures. I personally do not buy into this. However, given that many do, I am driven to ask: Theologically speaking, where do observant Jews and Conservative Christians derive their moral precepts?

Less than a week until nothing out of the ordinary happens. Poll: How will rapturites react?

How will Rapturites respond when Sunday, May 22 rolls around and nothing in the world has changed? Will they claim that their great faith saved the world, that the Rapture in fact DID occur – we just don’t realize it, that Harold Camping – the man behind this Rapture campaign – forgot to carry a … Continue reading

There Will Be War.

“I believe in world peace. I believe it is possible.” – Every politician or beauty pageant contestant ever. Highly unlikely. That’s not to say that it wouldn’t be desirable. It’s just not going to happen. Even in an idealistic world where everyone had enough food, followed the Golden Rule, did not covet status, wealth or … Continue reading

Stephen Colbert: The worst offender against Christianity is God

This is a must-watch Colbert clip. In it, Colbert addresses the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s anti-religion and pro-reason sign at the Washington state Capitol in Olympia, the resolution requiring the Kentucky state Department of Homeland Security’s to display a plaque claiming that “the safety and security of the commonwealth cannot be achieved apart from reliance upon … Continue reading

Christian zealots terrorizing Christians by calling Atheist group terrorists

UPDATE: This post is now for humour and lulz (at my expense) purposes only. I’ve just been informed that this is a parody site. In my own defense, however, the millions of religious rightards in the world have made it impossible to use ridiculousness as a red flag for satire. I just stumbled upon a … Continue reading

We … Continue reading

Stein and Beck’s ignorance of and/or deliberate deceit with respect to science, evolution, atheism and morality are absolutely depressing. They are an unfortunate pair of exemplars of the intellectual dysfunction that dogmatism – … Continue reading

Evolved Rationalist reviews Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed

The Evolved Rationalist, in an act of self-sacrifice, has subjected herself and her brain cells (a few thousand of which are probably dead now) to watching Ben Stein et al.’s crocumentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed. She reviews the intellectual and moral travesty here. PS: ER has the best blog tagline I’ve ever seen: We have … Continue reading
