Texas Republicans Call for Revocation of Scientology’s Religious Status

republicanpartyoftexas.gifTexas Republicans have called to end the Cult of Scientology’s status as a legitimate religion eligible for tax-exemption in the state of Texas. The grounds of the resolution are that 1) the cult has no statement of faith; 2) they offer no routinized worship services; and 3) rather than providing “church” services freely and openly, they require individuals to pay large sums of money and endure extended periods of “mind altering auditing sessions” in order to gain access to the “church” teachings.

It’s not often that I get the opportunity to agree with Republicans (let alone Texas Republicans) on a contemporary political issue.

God bless the Republican Party and God bless Texas! It’s about time America’s politicians woke up to the scam of $cientology.

Scientology is a scam, but not much more than any other religion.

    Hear hear!!
I’m not a religious person, but I respect anyone who is. However Scientology is but a scam. Any religious, faith-based or spiritual organization should NEVER EVER expect donation, nevermind the ridiculous amounts that these expect.

    DO WANT.

Faith is free. Education costs money. Perhaps they’ll try to re-register as an educational institute next.

    Religion is free. Scientology isn’t.

My beef with them. If they have nothing to hide then let people know what is going on before they pay money.

And here I was, thinking I’d never agree with Republicans on anything.

  10. Alex Jones says:

The first one is totally incorrect. The second is false, and the third is an easily disproven misconception.

    This is great!
    Finally America is waking up!
Now we just need more states to see what obviously should be done now that Texas has.

personally i dont like scientology a bit but i shudder to think what the consequences of denying them the right to practice their version of mindf***ing over the right of other longer standing mindf***ers.

all religions have an element of the scam -thats why they are called “faiths”! if these gop’rs get their way then your church may be the next target. so think twice before you support them in their selective witchhunt.
