Bill Dembski on who most needs to see the upcoming ID crocumentary, Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed

In yet another of his inane ramblings, Bill Dembski lies for Jesus once again. In an interview with the Southern Baptist TEXAN (so you know the reporter is gonna be asking the hard questions, right…) regarding the upcoming Intelligent Design-advocating Christian Right crocumentary, Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, Dembski asserts that “those who most need to see the movie are “parents of children in high school or college, as well as those children themselves, who may think that the biological sciences are a dispassionate search for truth about life but many of whose practioners see biology, especially evolutionary biology, as an ideological weapon to destroy faith in God.”

While science may not be ideally intellectually pure given the ulterior motives of many corporations and agencies that fund research, to say that the scientific community has a strong motivation to destroy religious faith and that it would allow this motivation to undermine its honesty is simply bullshit. And Dembski knows it. But it remains true that science and reason are tools which can destroy religious faith. Science and reason are tools for destroying any kind of faith, as faith is belief without sufficient evidence, which is directly antithetical to science and reason.

While rationalists like to use reason and intellectual honesty to argue down religion, what do religious apologists do? What are their big tools? Oh yeah. Arguments from ignorance, arguments from authority, cherry-picked hindsight-informed readings of scripture, arguments from personal experience which can be made by people of all faiths as well as secular meditators and some drug users, misunderstanding of scientific findings, failure to comprehend what atheism is followed by the accusation that atheism is a dogmatic religion itself (and therein admitting how full of anti-intellectual dogmatic crap religion is), emotionally charged pleas to respect my beliefs!!!, and if all else fails, do what Dembski, Behe, O’Leary and the rest of the Dishonesty Discovery Institute make a career out of doing: LIE!

People like Debski and Behe are disgraces. They tell barefaced lies in public and get away with it because they’re defending the faith. Only in religious organisations is it a virtue to believe something you’ve been told, even with no evidence. I’ll need to get my hands on a copy of this documentary though.

    Btw… tag

Grammarking: I agree with you fully. They tell lies about evolutionary theory and findings, misdepict how rationality works (if evolution were to be wrong, God doesn’t become the answer, fullblown directionless agnosticism does), and will make the same argument on Wednesday that they made on Monday no matter how many counterarguments they heard on Tuesday that they couldn’t refute; they just make the same argument again as if it had never been challenged.

Unfortunately I’m too lazy for tag. Interestingly, though, the nearest book to me is the Bible!
